Not much material or instructions are required for dust-binding mopping. However, there are three questions about this cleaning method that our customer advisors hear again and again. We provide answers to these three questions in this article.

Hygiene:
1. What makes dust-binding mopping with disposable cloths so hygienic?

Optimised hygiene is ensured for two reasons:

  • Dry cleaning method (no water, no proliferation of bacteria)
  • and the disposable system (1 cloth, 1 room).

Dust-binding mopping is a water-free cleaning method. This means: Without moisture, microorganisms have no opportunity to spread and multiply. Therefore, the most important hygiene rule is: Make sure to first remove the dust or microorganisms with dry dust cloths before any wet cleaning. In the modern approach to cleaning, wet cleaning (wet mopping with the mop or scrub drying with the scrubber-dryer) should only be carried out if necessary, for example in the case of stubborn dirt.

A second factor that influences the hygiene level: the disposable system. If cleaning personnel use a fresh disposable cloth for each room, there is no cross-contamination with the next room. The hygiene rule here: 1 cloth, 1 room.

The Wetrok recommendation: Mop your property every day with Masslinn disposable-dust cloths.
A pleasant side effect of daily dusting: solid tread safety and maintaining the value of floor coverings.

Efficiency:
2. Why is dust-binding mopping so efficient?

Loose dirt can also be removed by dry vacuum cleaning or sweeping, apart from dust-binding mopping. However, if these methods are compared, dust-binding mopping offers four advantages that deliver unbeatable efficiency:

  • Large working width
The dusting units are available in working widths of up to 1.6 meters. Compared to the narrower suction nozzle of a dry vacuum cleaner, this is a major advantage for covering more ground faster.
  • Low energy consumption
The Masslinn dust cloths, in combination with the pad sole, offer excellent gliding properties. As a result, cleaning work is less fatiguing compared to sweeping/dry vacuum cleaning, which allows cleaning personnel to cover more area in less time.
  • High dust absorption capacity
Even after a single wipe, all the dust adheres to the dust cloth without leaving a residue. It is not necessary to work the area multiple times, even in hygiene-sensitive properties.
  • No need for extra steps
Dust-binding mopping is performed entirely without electrical energy, which eliminates the potential need to unplug cables and plug them in elsewhere (compared to dry vacuum cleaning/sweeper).

Please note: Dust-binding mopping is unsuitable for very heavily soiled or highly textured floor coverings. In these cases, dry vacuum cleaning or sweeping is the preferred cleaning method.

Pad sole:
3. What is the pad sole needed for and which pad sole is right for which task?

A pad sole is a piece of fleece made of polyester fibres in the same trapezoidal shape as the mopping unit. The function of the pad sole: It acts as a kind of shock absorber between the mopping unit and the dust cloth, and ensures more pleasant and efficient work.

In principle, the dusting unit and dust cloth can also be used without a pad sole. However, this is only possible on very even floor coverings and is not recommended due to the decreased dirt absorption capacity.

The pad sole offers various advantages thanks to specially integrated zigzag grooves on the underside:

  • helps the cloth remove dirt evenly without residue
  • balances out uneven floors
  • provides optimal gliding properties
  • reduces the effort required

In short: You will only obtain optimal cleaning results using the pad sole.

Due to the advantages listed above, Wetrok generally recommends the white pad sole (available in various sizes, washable at 60 degrees).

Note on mounting the white pad sole:
Attach the smooth surface to the hook-and-loop strips on the mopping unit, with zigzag grooves facing down towards the dust cloth or floor.

However, there is one alternative that many cleaning personnel are unaware of: the black Lamiwell pad sole made of natural rubber. There are two cleaning situations where using the black Lamiwell pad sole is preferable:

Case 1: Disinfecting
The black Lamiwell pad sole is resistant to disinfectants and can be easily and fully disinfected due to the smooth material.

Case 2: Heavy soiling due to hairs and fibres
With the black Lamiwell pad sole, hairs and fibres can be removed/rinsed off easily and without residue thanks to the smooth natural rubber.

The result: The black Lamiwell pad sole can be cleaned/rinsed off more thoroughly.
